Dr. Stuart Marks has 23 years of surgical experience and was a clinical instructor of cataract surgery in the Department of Ophthalmology at Emory University. Dr. Marks utilizes the most current technology, equipment, and implants, to provide the best surgical outcomes possible. His cataract surgery patients generally experience an almost immediate improvement in vision and a speedy, painless recovery.

Dr. Perry Giles has 14 years of clinical experience and comes to us from the University of Georgia where he was the lead optometrist at the University Health Center. As a member of the faculty at the University of Georgia, he was responsible for primary and secondary care for all UGA students, faculty, and employees.

Augusta Eye Surgery was recently reaccredited by the Accreditation Association of Ambulatory Health Care, or AAAHC

Accreditation is a voluntary process through which an ambulatory surgical center is able to measure the quality of it services and performance, against the highest nationally recognized standards.  The examiner noted the Augusta Eye Surgery is “in the top 5% of ambulatory surgical centers nationwide.”

Dr. Marks was a recent guest lecturer at the Medical University of South Carolina Storm Eye Center in Charleston, South Carolina.

New Equipment Arrives at Augusta Eye MD

Augusta Eye MD recently added new equipment to better serve our patients.  The Spectralis HRA-OCT is a non-contact ophthalmic diagnostic imaging device.   It provides state of the art images of the anterior and posterior segments of the eye.  It allows two and three dimensional imaging, cross-sectional imaging, fundus photography, fluorescence imaging, and measures ocular anatomy and ocular lesions.  The Spectralis aids in the detection and management of macular degeneration, macular edema, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and many other vision threatening conditions.
